Well, My Grandfather Was Right....

As a kid I thought that time moved so incredibly slow...summers dragged on for what seemed like months and months...Christmas took years to come....a year in school lasted a lifetime.   Grandpa always said, "When you get older, you won't know where the time has gone..."  I never believed him.  Then I graduated from high school, went to college, got married, got a job, had a son....and where has the time gone?  Grandpa was right.  He is not physically here anymore to reflect upon this with, but I know that he is looking down laughing and saying, "I told you so...you kids never listen."

I find myself now, as a teacher, telling my students the same thing.  They just cannot wait for lunch, or Thanksgiving break, or summer vacation...I tell them it will be here sooner than they know.  They laugh and give me a funny look...a look that I know because I gave that look once too...and someday I know they will look back and say, "Where has the time gone?" and wonder why those kids are always in such a rush...

I think that Earl had brought craziness to my house...

I am assuming that the rain that is coming down outside is from Earl.  It's windy...it's rainy...it's sunny...it's rainy...etc.  My rottie pup is bouncing off the walls.  He wants to be outside, but he was neutered two days ago and is supposed to be leash walked and quiet....yeah...that is working out.  He is now "resting" in the laundry room.  That usually consists of shredding something which makes it a lot easier to decide what I should throw out next.  My two year old is acting a lot like the puppy...except he has not asked to go outside yet.  Currently he is scooping up Cheerios off the ground with his little John Deere backhoe toy.  He was just in the window.  And before that was trying to scoop water out of the pan that is soaking in the sink.  My lab is sleeping.  I gave him his allergy medicine and he has zonked.  The dog has terrible allergies.  He loves to run through the weeds out back...then he comes in the house and attempts to chew his skin off.  I don't think Earl is effecting him at all.  Hope that Earl leaves soon...did I mention that my washing machine broke down yesterday?  That's another story!

It just hit me...September is less that a week away...

As a school teacher...a middle school teacher...I try to forget about school for a few months during the summer.  Ok, so I am always thinking about school, but just not thinking hard about it.  Today I went to my classroom to try to unpack some of the boxes from my BIG move two doors over.  Last year I taught sixth grade.  This year I teach seventh grade and 2/3 of the sixth grade...English.  So I had to move...why, I don't know...maybe so I would be forced to move some of the materials and supplies that I have been hoarding for the last four years.  In my old room I had a closet bigger than my bedroom.  Now I have a closet smaller than my bathroom closet.

I took my two year old with me.  Luckily one of my colleagues had thought ahead for me and scheduled for one of our former students to come in and "entertain" while I was literally throwing things in the closet.  I am secretly hoping that it is a Mary Poppins closet...and you can put endless amounts of items in there and then find them exactly when you need them.  I don't think that it is.  I think it will be a big mess when I need markers in about a week.  My two year old was done about two hours into the closet expedition.  It was longer than I thought he would last.

Next week at this time I will have completed two preservice days in preparation for the upcoming school year.  I love my job, I really do...but I don't want to think about it yet...just a few more days and then it's back to the everyday...until June.

Well, a few more days of crafting and looks like I will be a weekend crafter again.  Looking forward to the fall shows and to good sales on etsy.  Visit my etsy store to see what I have been working on www.countrycreationsoffl.etsy.com

Ok....so I have a blog...

I've been looking at a great deal of other blogs...and people seem to do a really nice job of, well, blogging.  I don't really consider myself to be computer illiterate, but it might be a while until my blog looks halfway decent.  I have lots of opinions and lots to talk about, so we will see where that goes!

The first thing I want to feature from my etsy store www.countrycreationsoffl.etsy.com is my Reindeer Guys and Gals.  I know, I know, Christmas is still a few months away...but it's never to late to start thinking about it!  These Guys and Girls are machine and hand sewn.  The Gals are 20" from head to toe and the Guys are 27" from antler tip to toe.  They are made from Recycled Denim, Plush Felt, Rice, and Fiber Fill.  They are absolutely adorable!  They sit on shelves, they have a pocket (from actual denim jeans) on the front, they are the cutest little guys (and gals) ever.

Prices vary based on time and materials.  The Guys are $35 due to extra antler sewing, stuffing, sewing, bell addage, etc.  The Gals are $30 because they don't have that extra sewing, stuffing, etc.  If BOTH of these items are bought together during the same transaction, I will refund the buyer $10!  So it's like getting the Guy for $30 and the Gal for $25!  Plus, shipping will be combined too (a total savings of about $5.00 off of regular shipping costs).

If you have any questions about these guys, please feel free to contact me (an etsy convo is the best way).  Need more of these Guys or Gals?  Let me know and I can get them made (and a discount for multiples).

These Guys and Gals really are cute, but are not intended for children due to bells and beads, etc.  They also are not machine washable...they have rice in their bottoms and I just don't think that the felt would fare well.  But spot washing is A-OK!

Have a great Wednesday!
